How to get my hair straight? But...?

Everytime i straighten my hair, it doesnt actually straighten.. We have a Chi straightner and i dont think it works well. My hair is naturally straight but ever since i got layers, it started waving at the ends and the straightner won't do anything. I dont straighten my hair a lot. Just blow drying. with heat protectant! thank youu
