Can you believe this?
While, I understand that childhood obesity is a significant problem in the world today, I am not sure I entirely can agree with your use of a seat belt law to argue a point on obesity in America. I can see so many opponents stating that fining parents purely based on the fact that their child is overweight could be unconstitutional. Truth is, fresh vegetables and fruits are expensive, and families sometimes cannot afford healthier food options. Personally, I think setting a standard for how to determine if a child is overweight and how much to charge is parent is logistically impossible, not to mention a privacy violation. There is no perfect solution for how to cure childhood obesity, so just let the government at least save a few individual lives with a seatbelt law for now.
